What to Expect in Your Design Process
New in 2024
Design contracts will run on an 8 week cycle. If additional time is required, the design fee increases.
Week 1 - Consult and begin design process (first design payment)
Week 2 - Present Draft 1 in Zoom meeting, discuss plants and materials
Week 3-4 - Draft 2 and second Zoom call
Week 5-6 - Draft 3 completed (final design payment)
Week 6-8 - Design Package finalized and given to client
In your design package: Site's existing conditions, planting plan and catalogue, measurements and material take-offs.

The process, in detail...
The First Step is scheduling an in-person consultation. Consultations are $150 (within 50km of Cookstown, $200 if further), and typically last 1-2 hours, including time to measure your yard. We will go over your project goals, some ideas on the layout. Please note, the consultation fee is due at your consult. Cash, credit, or cheque accepted.

After your consultation, I will prepare a design quote and contract within the same day. Once your contract is signed, returned, and a 50% deposit is made, your design process begins. The other 50% is due after Draft 2 is completed.
Draft 1 will be emailed to you along with some date options for a Zoom meeting to go over the drawing together and answer any questions. This draft has a more general layout than future drafts; some measurements will be shown to help understand the space and sizing. During your first Zoom meeting, we can discuss changes, plants, and hardscape selections. This process repeats for Draft 2. |

Once Draft 3 is completed, I will begin your final design package.
Your Design Package can be given to your chosen landscape contractor(s) to help you get quotes on your project.
The Design Package is released by PDF format. A Design Package includes:
- Existing Conditions (including existing grades)
- Coloured Design/Planting Plan
- Plant Order List
- Design Measurements and Materials List
If you require further changes past Draft 3, additional fees will apply.
